Anyone feel sad at the end with Ardeth Bay?

Did anyone feel a little sad at the end regarding Ardeth Bay? Ardeth and the O'Connels became really good friends, and as they float away, they say their goodbyes to each other and the balloon flies to the sunset and Ardeth rides away.

I thought Ardeth was a great character and the fact that he wasn't in Mummy 3 just basically confirms that we'll never see him again.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Same goes for Imhotep and Rachel Weisz as Evy.
