What really p*sses me off

Clark and korine are always doing repulsive *beep* They think of the most sick and putrid garbage and put it on screen. Think about it, a father marrying his daughter, a father trying to give his son oral sex. Its fu**ing disgusting. Also, I looked forward to the story. I skated for a few years and I know what a misunderstood subculture it is. But of course, they ruin it. Both of them are trash

You sound like a well-balanced individual with a thoughtful argument.

Don't get me wrong. i support movies that depict realism (ex. Requiem for a Dream, The Basketball Diaries, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest), but those films are well directed and they portray a good message. If you just film the most putrid crap you can think of, it will be, well, putrid crap.

It is truly astonishing that you have insight into the writer's mind and know their motivations and intentions.

If you are meaning to be sarcastic, obviously I dont know exactly what the authors intentions are. Neither do you, the only person who knows that is the author himself. However, I have seen enough of Larry Clarks *beep* and it all follows the same premise.

Then I am further astonished that you continue to watch his films.
I am glad that you caught on to the sarcasm bit.

I haven't actually seen his films, but I've read about most of them. And I bet you like to watch kids jerk off.

And the astonishment just never ceases. This time it's coupled with a slight feeling of pity.

You keep presenting these well-formed arguments that makes a person pause and think. A true asset to the IMDb message boards.

Most of what rally pissed me off was an adult woman having an affair with her daughter's teenage boyfriend, and the movie ends up somehow glorifying it. Apparently i am the only one who finds it disgusting

It's kinda hot.

OP is right, your condescending attitude is pathetic. In this specific instance, he provides more to the IMDb boards than you. And unlike you, at least OP has arguments, may we agree with them or not.

A good message doesn't make a movie good. Its the movies intention that counts and the way its executed. The message here is clear and while it might not cater to most people, its certainly a worthy effort.

You, sir, havent seen sick. try watching some of those:
Salo'

Dude, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, MARTYRS, IRREVERSIBLE, INSIDE, THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE and AUDITION are weak compared to this.

To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.

Really? What makes you say that?

"hey hey there he is"

reply

I've only seen the first 3 you mentioned but there's no way Ken Park is more twisted than Irreversible. And Martyrs is truly awful and overrated. What I hate about Ken Park is that it's exploitation disguised as art.

reply

I wasn't aware it had to be one or the other.

You think that this stuff never happens? Some people are messed up enough to do things like this, so why not make a movie about it?

"Why do you say this to me when you know I will kill you for it?"

reply

I agree with the original poster. Its really sick and only twisted *beep* up minds would even think of this *beep* and then put this sh*t in movies.

reply

I have to agree, In my opinion, Larry Clark and Harmony Korine are horrible filmmakers. Films like Ken Park, Gummo, Kids, and Teenage Caveman are truly terrible films that seem like they are all about being controversial. From what I have heard, Spring Breakers sounds like garbage as well. Maybe their films are just not my cup-of-tea but I do struggle to see why people love their films.

Kids is for... Well people who did what they wanted as KIDS. Nothing will come as close to portraying a day in my life, as a teen, as Kids did. It resonates with so many people but ones who lived a straight and narrow life. What was your youth like? No judgment from me... But were you a preppy kid in Pleasantville USA? Same goes for Bully(Which was a True Story) and again, showed how OTHER people live. The people society doesn't give a *beep* about. Poor White Folks... We exist. Another Day In Paradise, a film about 2 junkies who take on a pair of young junkies as apprentices... Have you done drugs? Been an addict? Understand the life?... If not, just shut the *beep* up and watch something else.

reply

the sad or funny thing is Harmony korine and Larry Clark might agree with you. Korine did make a film actually called "Trash Humpers" [2009]. yes I had the misfortune of watching all of it's randomness
