UP Censoring Language

OK, so you can't say "damn," or "hell," or several other things in Judging Amy because UP filters them out, but you can say, "crap?" OK... Please understand, I'm not a prude. I swear all the time, but this is why I hate the idea of censoring. There's no rhyme or reason for it, it's all what the person doing the censoring finds offensive.

reply

Up makes no sense

They'll also let Maxine say words like "Molested", "Sexually abused", "Raped", ETC
And they'll allow "Crap" and "Pissed"

But they censor "hell", "Ass", "Damn", "Blow it out your butt, Stu"

Judging amy really has no business being on UP. it's bad enough they skip like a third of the series

reply

I don't have TV, so I didn't know they censored "blow it out your butt, Stu"??? That takes away from the oomph from that particular scene, doesn't it? Ugh and I can't stand the words "pissed" and "crap" and all those words you mentioned that Maxine says. It seems to be someone's personal preference, what gets censored, and that's just wrong. Such a shame, ruining a good show.

reply

I agree with you. I find "crap" more offensive than "damn" for sure.

reply

I always have to laugh when people are bothered by words at all, especially ones like "crap" or "fart" or "take a dump." The funniest thing about how UP is censoring Judging Amy is that most of the words they cut out are still there on the captioning, sometimes even entire lines. My dad's hearing is fading somewhat so he leaves the captioning on all the time, and you learn some crazy things about shows you don't know otherwise.

reply

This show really doesn't fit UP/GMC

They butcher every show they air. Moesha was unwatchable on up as well.

before they started airing Judging Amy in July 2011, the last time it was on TV in The US was when TNT took it off in September 2007

I'm beginning to think Up is trolling their viewers and only obtained rights to it so they can gain viewers who like the show who wouldn't normally watch a channel like theirs

reply

You're probably right. Considering I'm Jewish, and definitely wouldn't watch this channel without a show like Judging Amy, lol.

reply

UPtv are hypocrites

They let "Slut" be said on "the parkers" and also let Proessor Olgevee run out of Nikki and Kim Parker's apartment naked when he lost a game of poker that turned into strip poker because he lost all his money

They let that slide since they Air "the parkers" at 11pm eastern

The Parkers is so overly sexual in every episode. I like The Parkers, but am Shocked as hell to see it on UP.

but they still censored "Damn"

If Judging Amy were on at night, They probably wouldn't edit it as much. They'd probably still bleep "hell" or "Damn" but it would probably be more tolerable to watch

Really? I think damn is the worst word. Especially when you add to you to hell to it.

they'll let "hell" be used if it's being used to reference the actual place of hell
but If it's being used in a context like "what the hell?" it'll get bleeped

Like One episode of Judging Amy, I remember lauren saying "I don't want to go to hell, mommy". they let that go through since it wasn't being used as a cuss word

reply

UP is a hypocrite

on "The Parkers", They allowed The Professor to leave Nikki's apartment naked with a pillow covering his crotch because he lost multiple games of poker that became Strip Poker

But on the episode "Requiem" of Judging Amy, where Jared dies, They edit about 20 seconds out.

When Amy goes camping with Stu, she wakes up alone... and Naked... or at least topless.

The episode originally shows her waking up, sitting up, topless with her bare shoulders out.

Then she gets out of the tent fully clothed and zips it up from the outside.

They edited the scene to have her just zip the tent up from the outside.

So it's ok for the Professor Oglevee to leave Nikki's apartment naked but Amy can't show some skin?

HYPOCRITES!
