USA title is wrong

It's not Everbody's Famous, it's Everybody Famous. There's no "Is" in the title. The European English translation is correct.

They probably made it Everybody's famous cause Everybody Famous sounds odd.

so what? :)

It sounds as strange in english as it does in dutch :)

I personally think they meant something like "Everybody can be famous". Or something in that style, that's pretty what the story told me.

Is there any point in this topic at all?
If you know that the French title for 'Jaws' is 'Dents du Mere', I think you wouldn't be picking on half a verb.

You think "You" know about movies?

reply

if you knew how to spell in French, you wouldn't have contorted the name of Spielberg's classic horror film into the strangely terrifying-sounding "Mother's teeth"!

you, sir, are a comic genius!!

(OK, for those as pedantic as myself, Jaws would probably be "Dents de la Mer" and actually your version should have been "Dents de la Mère")

:^)

reply

The only way 'Iedereen beroemd' could be used without sounding strange is as an exclamation, meaning that the speaker would like it if everybody became famous. So the American title does indeed not have the same meaning as the Dutch one, but methinks it'd be rather hard to find a proper equivalent in English.

reply

They change titles for different languages all the time because exact translations don't necessarily make sense... such as this one.

Well at least the english translation is not as different from the flemish title than the spanish one. The spanish title for this movie is "Quiero ser famosa" (I want to be famous).

Good point. I guess because I'm half-Belgian it kind of unnerves me a little bit, because I know some people who are ignorant to the fact that Belgium exists.
