Strange language of Holly Hunter

I must confess that the language of Holly , for me , sounds very strange .
where , in America , people talk like that ?

Language follows the place .

I know what you mean. I've known a lot of people from Kentucky who pronounce some of their words like she did, but I never bought her dialect as authentic. It was even funny at times, due to it being unconvincing, like somebody speaking that way to ridicule the dialect.

There are different accents and dialects in different parts of Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and the rest of the south. Some, particularly in the true hill country can be very deep twangs, some are slow drawls, while others are more of a lilt. Even within a county, or sometimes even within the same family, the accents are can be thicker or more pronounced for some people than others.

Part of the problem here is that Holly Hunter is actually from Georgia, which has a very different sort of accent from what you hear in Kentucky, so her own natural speech patterns got in the way of her efforts to "talk the talk". She tried, but didn't really capture it. It was not terrible, but it missed the mark.
