One of the most moving films ive ever seen (spoilers)

I saw this movie while under the influence of a very potent mind altering drug and that made me feel extremely close to the characters in the film and i empathized with there situation so much. The old african man was the craziest part of the movie. He was so calm he had lived in solitude like this for 25 years. The bus passengers go crazy in less than a month. And when they leave the old african guy is still there. still strong. I also thought it was rather ironic that the seemingly strong and incharge enlish safari type guy who took charge in the beggining dies with out getting but a few miles from where he started. i really cant put into words how great this movie is. its definately one of the best movies ive seen this year and i watch alot of movies

I think I'd have to be on a very potent mind altering drug to enjoy this film. I love dogme, but this was not good in my eyes

You must have a pretty weak mind if you need a drug to help you realize the things these characters went through. The dialog and imagery were well enough to get that point across.

I too found this one of the most 'moving' films I've ever seen, though, in
my case, the 'movement' was to press the stop button. I don't think I'll
ever understand what caused some very talented actors (one of whom was
previously Oscar nominated) to be associated with this work. All I can say
is that it played like a poor-man's porno 'snuff-movie' (and I've no wish
to see any of those, either). I have no problem with innovative camera
angles, natural lighting, or an avoidance of special-effects. What I find
disturbing is watching an X-rated version of Lord of the Flies, where a
group of (supposed) adults resort to debasing themselves and each other -
even unto death - in a manner more childish than children, after only
a few days in a 'survival situation'. If this script bore the slightest
similarity to documented survival situations in particular, or even to
Human nature in general (which it thankfully doesn't) then we would all
be in a lot more trouble than we already are...

I agree with you DeadRomantic and also with you msimpso83. An abysmal film which had me skipping through to watch the talented and oscar nominated actor to whom you refer in those scenes he was in, but even then I struggled. I am no lover of 'arty' type movies at the best of times as they are always self indulgent claptrap. Bu this was on a level all of its own; it didn't make me want to watch it at all and I found myself reaching for the off button a few times but wanted to stick with this particular actor yet I too don't understand why he wanted to do this rotten movie; it literally stinks and I'm sorry I paid good money to buy it. This is, for me, one of the worst movies I have ever seen and the first bad movie this particular actor has appeared in; he was as fine as he always is it has to be said, and he generally played a morally strong character (even with that tart of a wife) but no way could I ever sit through it again.
