If they did another Tron film, they should remake the game's story.

I just got finished with playing the game and I have a thought.

If Disney somehow managed to greenlight another Tron movie, instead of just doing a straight-on altered storyline, they should just remake the story from the game.

Seriously, I've put some thought into it and have come up with an interesting twist: They reshoot the opening sequence and all "real world" segments in live action and they use the game engine for "Tron 2.0" to render the in-game sequences (this would greatly apply under "machinima"), with updated character models (so that way they can find a young man to play Jet and match the character model with him). Also, by using a game's engine, the shots that are suppose to be inside the computer can be "filmed" in real time and would take half as long to complete than most of Pixar's films. And that would be perfect enough for a film in my opinion (I could be wrong, it depends on the point of view).

Not if its done right. Besides, machinima has been around for quite some time and there are some good examples of using game engines in telling a story:
1. Game On: Maded with the Unreal Tournament 2004 game engine and as a commericalized short film for Volvo. Won "Best Picture" at the Machinima Film Festival. Shot with both HD video and real-time gameplay.

2. A Few Good G-Men: An experiment using Half-Life 2 and the audio from a scene to the movie "A Few Good Men".

And with some game hacks and high quality skintones available, many users of "The Sims 2" make a wide variety of stories with the game in a quality that is nothing short of impressive (in both story and in detail).

Plus, if the idea of using the game engine for "Tron 2.o" doesn't sit well, then they could develop a new game engine with a higher graphic quality. I mean, have you looked at any of the X-Box 360 games? They're in a ever better quality than most of the game engines I've seen when I was growing up.

Besides, there's no difference in using a video game engine to make the "in computer" scenes from the early form of CG used to just make the environment that the original characters existed in for the first movie. It'll only be a step up by making the "program" characters CG as well. And, naturally, one of the most memoriable items from the film are the Light Cycles, which are a part of a game within the film's universe.

And from some of the rumors I heard about "Tron 2.0" back before they decided to do it as a game, I heard that Steven Lisberger had considered on getting Pixar involved to do the "in computer" scenes (and in my opinion, the graphics that Pixar does are way too "cartoony" for the "Tron" universe and are worse in comparison to some of the newer game engines I've seen). And in addition to some of the sources of fan websites for "Tron", Lisberger is still interested in what it would look like for all the characters to be CG in the "in computer" scenes.

Of course, that's just my opinion and you are also entitled to your opinion as well. If you feel that it is a bad idea, there's nothing I could ever say or do to change your opinion. But I thank you for replying with your thoughts on the topic. :)
