Of all the things in the world, MTV had to cancel one of it's best up and coming cartoon series. Even though one of it's episodes nearly won an award for best cartoon series. (Simpsons won of course) It's storyline was perfect, post college Grad (Alex), best friend (Jen), Goth girl (Serena), paranoid guy (Goat) and others all trying to get through real life situations in East Village New York City.

Also the intresting things are the things I notice, such as the similarties between places I go to in the village and places that they go to/work at. Such as Starbase (the comic book shop) possibly actually is St. Marks Comic Bookshop, though I have no clue what real life representation of a place (if any) Alex works at. (there are independant copy shops everywhere in the village, as well as other stores) This show is closest to real life I have seen anywhere in any television representation of real life. (except for possibly alex's job allowing him to afford a apartment like that alone)

It's coming to Teletoon pretty soon. I don't know if they're new episodes though.

What is Teletoon (what channel or website, and what country)? And hopefully we will see it soon, I miss Downtown so much. But there will be no new episodes (unless the creator decides to take the licence and make some) though I really hope there will be. Thanks for your reply once you get around to it :).

Yeah, what's this Teletoon?? If they're playing all of the great cancelled cartoons I have to get this channel.

Found out what you said is true, time for me to watch a new show :) (though I still wish for a Downtown like show soon, I miss those weird NYC stories, though I don't have to go that far to get some (being close to NYC myself).

k_erickson2, found out some things. The creator of this show (Downtown) is also the creator of MEGAS XLR and some of the writers came over from that series too, not just the voice of Goat. They even have some references in the show (MEGAS destroying PopTV buildings [actually MTV] and a PopTV reporter around the chaos) on how they are angry at MTV for cancelling them.

One episode we all missed if we weren't in another country. Apparently MTV released the final episode everywhere except the US, even though Downtown is a US show.

i have all the episodes on like..three tapes or so on SP, so it's just like watching the actual show. i watched the first one tonight again actually when i just messing around. as for what happned in the last episode......welllll...serena (believe it or not) changed for alex. didn't go nerdy or anything but wore brighter colors and ditched all the goth stuff. except for her nose ring. she was ready to commit to alex and everything. BUTTTTTTTTT.......he screwed up. he found that he was attracted to her goth side more and when she became normal..he kinda blew her off. well guess what, after chaka's bad candy rampage (long story), he ran into serena at the end and she was out with some other guy dressed as a vampire. and guess what...she went back goth. but not because alex wanted her that way. also there was some serious romantic inclinations with goat and jen. no seriously. they were dressed up as each other. funny stuff.

anyway, just like aeon flux, mission hill, and undergrads (all i have except for mission hill)...this show should RETURN yo.

Do you know of a way I could get these tapes myself somehow? (maybe find the company that owns the rights to it and have them copy it to DVD format or something?) If you can give me a suggestion, please Email me at [email protected]

haha , i have Trip or Treat on VHS, and recently copied it to my computer, if anyone wants it (and you have high speed internet access) add me to your msn messenger, my adress is [email protected]
i am from the uk, so i managed to tape this epidose when the series ran for a short period of time on MTV2 UK, i have most of the episodes on tape actually, i downloaded 2 lo quality episodes of the internet ages ago, but the ones ive recorded myself are very good quality, the episodes ive taken off my vhs tapes are 'Limo' 'Trip Or Treat' and 'The Con' i think i will record the others too, i love the episode where they race to cony island, ill do that un next. i started a website for this too, theres mp3 clips of the show on there (one including 'Jen' singing in the episode 'hotel bar') recently ive been thinking of actually FINISHING the site, its at www.geocities.com/downtownsite
mostly because i just downloaded 'Tammy Faye Starlite - Used country female' off emusic.com Tammy Faye Starlite is the actress/performance artsist who voiced 'Jen'

I miss this show to. It's funny mtv takes off shows like daria, undressed, downtown and global groove to put on shows about bratty ass rich kids(my super sweet 16, the hills, laguna beach, etc)
