Goat got carried over to MTV's Megas XLR CRaaaZy

I always wondered why the mechanic in Megas look'd so familiar, then i found IMDB =] For anyone that liked DownTown, I recommend checking out Megas XLR, not quite the same pace or mood.. well anything really 2 do with Downtown cept 4 Goatman. Still its one of MTV's better productions

i ONLY watch that anime crap for Goat...and He's not even on all the episodes. They need to have someone else make a cameo from "Downtown".

reply

Megs XLR isn't anime given that it wasn't made in Japan. And a cameo by other Downtown characters is rather unlikely given that the show has been cancelled.

reply

.......... youre wrong it is still considered anime for many reasons by many ppl
regardless of where its made who drawn by
and CANCELLED.>?
it is only my opinion that youre wrong but read around ;<

Megas XLR can only be considered anime in that the Japanese word for any cartoon is anime. But if one uses the word to mean a Japanese made cartoon show, especially one made for a Japanese audience, Megas is not anime.

the term anime has only to do with the style not necessarily WHERE it was made

reply

Wrong. The word anime in places like the US is specifically referring to Japanese-made cartoons. Anime is indeed the Japanese word for cartoon, but the essence it's used in refers to a specific location it was developed.

There is confusion in this caused my marketing and mass media attention to the word, applying it to any cartoons, or even a few select live-action shows (Powerpuff Girls, Mega Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc...).

I love Megas XLR, but I have never seen this show, but I was wondering about something. For those of you who have seen Downtown, how is the character of Goat altered (besides his clothing) in Megas XLR? Is he different at all? Does he behave differently? Same personality?

Also, after looking it up on Wikipedia (which didnt really answer my question) I noticed that Goat wears his Downtown clothing in the "Terminate Her" episode.

Goat owns a garbage dump. Technically speaking, that's the only real way he's different in this show. Also, he makes a cameo in a very recent adult swim series, Metalocalypse. In the first episode in the beginning when a couple of fans are getting interviewed. I believe he's the one who got his eye ripped out and thus praised Dethklok for it. Not much, but it shows that Goat is far from forgotten.

Alex and two of his geeky friends make a small, non-speaking cameo at the beginning of the second Megas XLR episode. You can see it here:
