Max's mom
Ever wonder what happened to her? Cause Goofy is really, really loves Max, and it shows in both movies. Maybe something happened to her and Max is all he has left.

Yep. You're very right. There are so many Disney families who only have one parent, almost all, actually. Some of them even don't have parents at all. There's a thread in a board of a Disney film (Chicken Little, I think) that
shows that Disney films are usually like that. They wanna make the main character stronger. And also in some movies if the main characters have parents that would be no story. Ex: Lion King - Mufasa got killed and Simba only has his mother. Aladdin - orphan bcoz his mom died when giving him birth and his dad became King of Thieves & left him (but in one movie they reunited). Bambi - mom got killed. Emperor's New Groove - Kuzco's parents are not in the story and Yzma (his official) raised him. Treasure Planet - Jim only has his mom bcoz his dad left them. Chicken Little - only has dad, his mom died. Pocahontas - only has dad, his mom died. Toy Story - Andy only has his mom, dunno what happenned to his dad. But those stuffs really make sense. Bcoz if Mufasa didn't get killed, there would be no story AT ALL! Same like Aladdin (shows his toughness of being an orphan and a street rat), Bambi, Kuzco, etc.
There's a similar trend in Olsen Twins movies (most of their flicks feature single fathers). I think it could have to do with modern society and how many children have single parents these days.
I think the above posters are right in saying that something probably happened to Max's mom. Goofy is awfully clingy and loves Max more than anything, which is probably because he's all he has left.
I think that if a Disney film had both parents in then both of the parents don't have much of a part for example Sleeping Beauty-Parents hardly said 2 words- and Mulan-Parents didn't much either although they had more of a part then Sleepers parents. Also it might not be as interesting story if there isn't a upsetting background. Hope you understand lol
