Question about medievel war film from the series ?

I remember watching a little bit of this, it was near the end of the war and The Third Reich where on their last legs.To motivate the higher ranking officers they where shown an old film showing a medieval village under siege. At the end of the film the villagers hold out against superior force to win the battle.Does anyone know the name of this film ?

Someone from Germany thinks the title might be Kolberg.

That's spot on - Kolberg, directed by Veit Harlan. Goebbels was, if memory serves, obsessed with making this film, pouring vast sums into its production. I think there was some sort of showing of the film during the last days in the Berlin bunker - Goebbels felt that it would stand as a testimony to 'Nazi Culture' (or words to that effect). The whole project underlines the insanity of the Third Reich.
Hope that helps.

You may be interested to know that not only did the Film have a huge budget in what was desperate times for The Third Reich, but many soldiers were drafted in from the Eastern Front to take part.

The movie Kolberg (1945) was filmed 1943-1944 and it was the most expensive production during the Nazi era.
Clearly Nazi propaganda!
It depicts the besiegement of the harbour town Kolberg by French soldiers and of course its heroic liberation in 1807.

It's a valuable contemporary document because Kolberg and Königsberg (today Kaliningrad) are shown before their complete destruction in 1945.
And I like the beautiful horses. ♥ *ahem*

You can watch the movie here.
