New Series with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens

Okay, everyone. In case anyone has not been able to keep up on the news about the new BBC production, I've put together this post to get everyone up to date on it:

News on when it will air in the US:

News on the preview screening in London this September:

There's an important correction on that post. They cannot be certain at this point which actors will be present at the screening.

And pictures from the press pack including Jane, Rochester, young Jane, Grace Poole, and Lady Ingram:

Thanks for putting the info here, Sophie. I'm a silent but regular visitor of your blog. Keep up the wonderful work!

Toby Stephens... I can see it's becoming a commonplace reaction... but I love him on the 'broody' photo. All he has to do now is maintain this truly rochester-ish air, pair it up with a performance equalling Jayston's, and I'll give him credit as Ideal Rochester No 2 :D

(I've never seen him act before so I come unprejudiced.)

Ruth Wilson... no, no, no. Again, they made the mistake. Such freshness of feature, without the decisive spirit. The plain hair and the pale young face are not enough for a convincing Jane! She must give an extraordinary performance to spice up this bland look.

I'm growing in confidence. I read an interview someone posted on my blog, and he seems to be a very intelligent actor and one who is sympathetic to his roles. I'd imagine that he's in a good position to understand the depth of Rochester's character- at least I hope so. :)

Your comment about Ruth Wilson surprises me! Most people are saying that they object to her being too forceful, agressive or harsh. There was also quite an outcry at her pretty looks! (and makeup)...

I found some screen caps of Toby Stephens in the BBC's adaptation of Tenant of Wildfell Hall. This picture reminds me of Michael Jayston for some reason. Is it just me? I think there's something about his eyes: http://www.royaltoby.com/captures/TW14.JPG

Just a little more of a half-smile and the resemblence would be clearer.
