I wish I were a history teacher.

I saw this series when it was first televised and was lucky to buy it a few years ago. I am rewatching it now. I am astonshied how good it is. Superb acting and beautiful costuming. The commentary says they think they could have improved it with more drama and less history. That is so wrong. I love it the way it is.

If I were a teacher, I would have students watch an episode then write a report on it. This way it would stick in their minds more. This would be a college course so I could kick out any student not providing the work. I don't think this would happen often. Most history courses in college are considered a vacation and the students very serious about taking a course that they like.

I think this production is important because it is the best explanation of the causes of WWI. It wasn't just interlocking treaties, it was the dying gasp of feudalism.

If WWI hadn't happened, we would be living in a very different world.
