Anyone thinks this game borrows from The Terminator?

You can see the similarities like a hulking killing machine that has no pity or remorse or feeling as it won't stop until that person is dead as it's after STARS members and Jill is like Sarah where Carlos is like Kyle when you think about it.

You killed Captain Clown, YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN-The Joker on Batman TAS

reply

Eh. Barely. The comparison is very slim. Biggest difference is Jill can take care of herself and Nemesis isn't solely programmed to kill her

reply

Absolutely. The size and stoicism recalls Arnie in T1, but there are also similarities to Robert Patrick's T-1000 from T2, such as the ability to outrun the protagonist and penetrate people's bodies with appendages.

reply

Yup that too.

RE 2 did borrow big time from Aliens.

I think Cameron is huge in Japan.

RE2 tipped its hat to quite a few films, apparently. Aliens, George Romero's Dead series, Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and Luc Besson's Nikita (lead character inspired Ada Wong) are the ones I remember reading about. There was also some reference to Queen, which I've forgotten, but that would make sense given their enduring success in Japan, and their rather beautiful (largely Japanese-sung) love song to that country, "Teo Torriatte".

RE 2 also borrowed from Jaws (monster animal with tank in mouth then explodes), Alligator (1980), Re-Animator, Terminator 2 and Assault on Precinct 13.

RE 4 borrowed from Children of the Corn, Wicker Man, 28 Days Later (infected people), Burial Ground Nights of Terror (killer monks), Akira, a bit of Terminator 2.

I can definitely see where those flicks influenced RE2. Unfortunately I know nothing of RE4 since for me, the series ended along with the Nemesis in the Disposal Plant. Thanks for the info, though.
