Question about Ex-Death's Name

I'm wondering if anybody knows the answer to this...

I know it's not the most reliable source, but in the Final Fantasy Anime Series (which is based off of FFV) the former bad guy is referred to "Exodus." I don't speak Japanese but I know that sometimes translations will mix up letters because "R," "TH," and "L" sounds don't exactly exist in Japanese.

I didn't really think much of it except that in the Final Fantasy XII Universe there's an Esper known as "Exodus." And since almost every Esper in FFXII that wasn't in Tactics is based off a previous Final Fantasy Final Boss (Chaos, Zeromus, etc.) I was wondering if anybody knew if Ex-Death was originally supposed to be called "Exodus."
