It was on the NES, though it was re-released with FMV video sequences and improved graphics (they look more like SNES graphics now) on the PlayStation with the original Final Fantasy as Final Fantasy Origins. It was also re-released after that on Game Boy Advance as Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls, which had the same graphical advancements for both games plus 2 previously unreleased additional dungeons - one in FF and the other in FF2. They don't really add a whole lot to the games but are interesting nonetheless. I have both as I'm kind of a Square (and Enix) and FF completist.
shareActually it was for the Famicom (Family Computer), which is the Japanese version of the NES. It was never released for the NES itself.
