Final Fantasy I + II on GBA

From vol 181 of Nintendo Power:

"Experience its origins in an updated BGA release of the original two games on a single Game Pak with new stories, extra dungions and enhanced RPG systems."

I'm personally excited, but also somewhat leary about how much the game will be 'updated.'

If you haven't already bought it, it's incredible. It's the same game, same dungeons, same monsters, same bosses. BUT the bosses are harder, instead of being able to beat the game at level 30, you have troubles at level 54 with a good party. Plus, there's Soul of Chaos dungeons. After you beat each fiend, a dungeon opens up. They contain a massive amount of floors, with incredibly hard bosses (some from other FF games, like Gigamesh) at the end. IE:

Earthgift Shrine, accessible after killing Lich. 5 floors, 4 bosses at the end, each with 4500-5000 HP (already more than Chaos from original FF, he's got 20000 in this one). you can only kill one boss each time, so you have to make 4 trips.

Hellfire Chasm, accessible after Marilith, formerly known as Kary. 10 floors, 2 bosses on floor 5, 2 on floor 10. You can kill 1 boss on F5 and 1 on F10 each run, so 2 runs through the dungeon. Bosses have about 12k-15k life

Lifespring Grotto, after Kraken, 20 floors, 1 on F5 1 on F10, 2 on F20, so you have to run through it twice. First two bosses have 15k life (ish) last two have a whopping 35k

Whisperwind Cove, after Tiamat, 40 floors, 1 boss every 10 floors. Only takes one run to beat, can't remember how much HP bosses have.

actually, the game is much easier. Being level 50 in the NES version is like being level 99. I like the NES version better, I'm currently playing a solo red mage challenge.

Cool, I've actually got a solo White Mage challenge (no class change) and 4 black belts because I finally got it working on my emulator again! I still like the GBA version because it has stuff like emergency exits, as well as the SoC dungeons, plus the whole "inneffective" thing is fixed, plus the text screens for battles go by much faster. I actually find I have more trouble at level 54 in the GBA version than with a party at level 30 with the NES version.

You're completely wrong. They butchered most of the difficulty.

I finally got it working on my emulator again!

Buy the freaking game.

I know, I kind of realized that a couple months ago when I replayed both with the same party as a comparison.
