Ahhhh.... research 'The Football much?

I mean, not to be a stickler about this stupid movie, but I thought "The Football" was carried by a military officer. Always. And I do know that the Prez alone can't release nukes - Secretary of Defense must authenticate.

Also, there is no computer in there, it's codes and strike options. WTF?

also the silos must have conformation, the president effectively "messages" the silo operator with the authentication code and co-ordinates. It can't be remote controlled from anywhere.

I enjoyed this movie for its cheese, but it had a lot of plot holes. The movie would have you believe that whoever got hold of the football had total control of the U.S.'s nuclear forces, but the U.S. has hundreds, probably thousands, of nukes that cannot possibly be controlled by the football - our B-52 and B-2 bombers, for instance, and nukes carried by other aircraft, fired from artillery pieces, etc.

Another point: who is going to believe that someone with a Spanish accent that is thick as molasses could possibly be elected Vice-President. If we bear in mind that stupid birther controversy over Obama, one would expect that a native-born citizen could at least speak unaccented English.
