3/28 Released on DVD?

So... I went out today to pick this up and I guess I wasn't too surprised when neither Walmart, Circuit City nor Best Buy had it on the shelf. So I came home to find a good place to order on line, but it seems that everyone has it on "backorder" at best and "discontinued/no longer available" at worst. Was this released on DVD apart from the 14 disc set? It was supposed to be. I have 2454323954 as the UPC for it.

Any ideas as to the problems with it or when/if it will be available?

It wasn't released seperately from the Ultimate Set on 3/18, but is supposed to be available at a later date.

Any idea on the date? All the info I could find said 3/28...

It doesn't look like there is a specific date yet. Here's the info:

I just received further information directly from
the folks at Fox Home Entertainment concerning the
upcoming Planet Of The Apes release. The
studio seems very concerned that our members get
the most up-to-date information....

The studio says they are no longer able to release
the animated series separately as singles. They are
still including the animated series in the Ultimate
Collection (head) but were just not physically able
to get it re-mastered in time to release it as a single.

They are, however, working to do so.

The animated TV set is essentially a bonus that
the studio added to the Ultimate Collection for fans
to complete the Planet of the Apes experience.

Not bad news, just a slightly longer wait for the
animated series to be available on its own.

Well... I hope that's good news. I don't like the part about it being "a bonus" since they planned on releasing it separately... Anyways... thanks for the info.

Sounds like marketing BS to me. You know they are deliberately holding back to use this as a selling point for the limited Ultimate set. Once those sell though they will release the animated series as a stand-alone set. Whether or not all the episodes will be remastered remains to be seen but if they do completely restore them all then even those of us who have the Ultimate set will consider purchasing the stand-alone set for the restored versions. Come on, FOX is seriously pulling us along on their money train.

Monkey train?

Happy to report that I did finally get this from the October release.

Probably a good thing that you waited. The quality in the "Ultimate Edition" discs wasn't great, and they didn't have the "Next time" commercials that appear on the stand alone version. Strangely, the discs in the Cesar head have a "play all episodes" feature, which the stand alone version doesn't have.

And yes, this is another case of FOX setting out to rape fans for their hard earned cash...
