could've been a lot better...spoilers

I watched this movie last night, and was surprised that despite a compelling idea for the film, the end result was just alright. The characters themselves were developed only to the point of being caricatures, so we could look at them and then generalize. For example, we know there's the sell out, and the nerd, and the guy thats so into it he's off the deep end, and we have the leader etc. These respective aspects to their persons are really the only thing that drives them as characters. there's just not much else there. as i have also seen discussed the movie had cheesy moments galore.(running in the rain scene, the screaming Ya! at the end, etc). They were funny i guess, but i felt like i was laughing more at the movie than with it. Finally, it seems unrealistic that a group of people trying to get rid of evidence of them bombing a building, would choose blowing it up inside another building. Just doesn't seem like the logical choice, but hey.

I had reasonably high expectations for this movie, as i thought that the plot idea lended itself well to an indepth character study, that not only looked close at the punk movement and anarchism, but dealt with more serious issues of responsibility, loyalty, accepting one's past, and accepting the future etc etc etc in the main characters. What we get instead is a surface level look at characters, in the midst of a poorly executed film, that has a truly interesting core idea.

I must admit when I watched this film I thought it wasn't meant to be taken too seriously... Hence being a comedy, rather than just a straight-out drama. I know what you mean about there being a remarkably high number of cheesy moments throughout the film, but I think they add to it, rather than detracting from it. I think they add to the spirit of idealism underpinning the film. It is certainly illogical in places, but what I liked about this film was the feel of it rather than the plot intricacies. I can see where you're coming from though!

yes, the movie is fairly cheesy but like you said, the plot idea is great and the characters are shallow in development. overall i liked the movie enough to record it and keep it on my shelf. i like the german language (so it was alright that it was subtitled) and the main actor (Tim) is a good actor if you ask me.

Cheesy to the max indeed. This was crap. The acting was dire with a few exceptions, the guy in the wheelchair being one. Like one of the posts mentioned earlier, it was a good idea ie. the story but it was hamfistedly directed and acted. Hence 4/10 from me...

I have to agree with all the posts. What I also disliked was why there was no further explanation as to how or why the characters got out of the chaot scene to their successful careers. I mean you don't get up one morning after having thrown stones at police officers and then decide to go to university to study law to become a lawyer or economics to start your "new economy" firm.

hm... I 'm not so sure it is that difficult, check out the following video from Greece, these people ARE students AND anarchists at the same time, who knows perhaps some of them will give up their ideas in a few years...
