well...

i haven't seen so many plot holes in a movie in a long time. The development of the 6 characters is just silly. Planting a second bomb to destroy proof of the first planted bomb just doesn't fit... don't watch it unless you're really into german movies and have seen all the good ones like "Lola rennt" and "23"...

I liked the movie. I didn't think that it had plot holes, and i think that the development of the 6 characters was just fine.

The movie was entertaining and i loved their German accents! =)

Maybe you have to be American to like it. Wait, that sounds silly. But I like it, and the only other people I know who like it are American, and then again I don't know very many Germans. Anyway, I thought it was fun and funny and entertaining. Not for deep thought, but it is still good.

I´m german an I like this movie a lot. It´s very close to the scene. And the development of the characters is not silly. If you´re german (and natrually included to the scene), you understand. You just don´t have to say more, they did. It´s what happens to all of us, when we grow up. But they illustrate it in a funnny way. Not more, not less (Do you say it that way? I´m sorry. My enlish is...I don´t have to say more?!).

You havn't to be American to like the film! I'm German and like it very much!

I'm english and I liked it =)

I think you just have to not take it too seriously, or expect a masterpiece!

Yes, bollocks ! I'm French (though so close to German sub-culture, mostly through the industrial music scene, I might just cut the crap and go live there ! ;))and I liked it. The "we once were young and reckless" theme has been treated many times — "Le péril jeune" is kinda close — but it's such an universal theme that it can be revisited countless times. I liked the way the German subculture was a part of the story, it made for something different indeed. And stellar actors too, who really carries the plot ! Not a "great" movie, but definitely a good one.

reply

Speaking as an American...yeah, I did like it. I bought the DVD on ebay!

I think there's enough character development to be interested and involved in the main plot and the motivations for each of the characters. Like Hotte's desire for revenge, for example. I think the character background was indeed slight, but it worked for the type of film it was.

I'm an American and have loved this movie since I was 14. I'm going to have to buy this movie from amazon.com or ebay cause I haven't seen it any where in town.

Good movie, saw it last year in German class. And to whoever was criticizing "Lola Rennt", yea, so you can run too, big deal. The point isn't that she ran, the point is that all the little details that occur during throughout that time period (such as the dog barking at her or the homeless guy with the money) have such a huge impact that they can result in such major changes as they did at the end of each cycle.

OMG...will everyone shut up about 'lola rennt'. That movie has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I still don't see what anyone sees in that movies....Ja, Lola rennt...and that's all!!! Ja, Ich kann auch rennen ...geezzz.

This movie is fun plus the soundtrack is AMAZING. I bought it and listen to it at least once a week. It's mainly in English plus a few German songs. I can definitely recommend it.

I loved it. Gotta love them crazy ass Germans.....

I think it's an exquisite movie.

Cinematographically it defies any film-goer's imagination. Speaking purely visually (if you'll forgive the apparent contradiction), it's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. The views of Berlin are absolutely breathtaking and each shot seems set up for optimum aesthetic, well, prettiness.

In terms of content, I'm from South Africa and there's a great deal in the protests and political aspects that rings extremely true for anyone who's lived in an oppressive society where students are the first flank of dissent. I found the plot entirely plausible from many angles.

best movie i have seen in a long time - great plot and fab acting from these up and coming germans

I became interested in this movie because Im an anarchist, I just watched it and Id have to say I felt very identified with Tim, he is very similar to me. This is the best movie dealing with anarchism that Ive seen, but it can still get a lot better. I liked the tension that the difference between each friend created.

reply

Uh... yeah. I suppose it started out 'anarchistic' enough; but when those limp middle-of-the-road tunes started taking up the soundtrack and the plot lapsed into an 'American' formula - left this American a mite cold.

Excellent point.

And anyway, I thought it was a fabulous movie. The acting was great, and the plot was interesting. It was fun to watch, and it left an impression. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

Merely in terms of fictional entertainment, I found it quite enjoyable. Ignoring the subject matter, the fornula itself was enough to maintain interest for the duration of the running time. Unfortunately the subject matter leads to greater analysis of the movie itself and you have to stop yourself from thinking too hard or digging too deep, or you'll be trying to look past the film for some kind of message or statement, something to make it into a masterpiece, which it simply isn't. I enjoyed it on the same level as some people probably enjoy american-cop action flicks. The subject matter is interesting but this film is far from being a definitive statement about anything, it's just a film.

Well..that's how I felt anyway.
