but...why?LMAO, who the hell would think that this film and that film could be linked?!?!?!
Ugh, probably some moron classed them both as teen movies, foolish fools.

Both movies feature a younger and an older person learning about each other, accepting each other and coming closer together.

true, good point but to me MFM is more about a social misfit finding some one she can actually connect with who understands her, or makes the effort to, and that person is not some one you would normally expect to see some one 'like her' get close to.
Freaky Friday is...well i suppose,at a stretch you could say it was a watered down version of MFM, but theyre not really that similar, i mean MFM deals with disfunction, self harm, loneliness and grief, FF is just about teens and parents finding out their children/parents' lives arent as easy as they think. Its not really the same.

Keeping in mind that I haven't actually seen this movie, would Harold & Maude be a better point of reference (based on the plot synopsis, I mean)?

reply

Yes, I think it would be a good one for similarities. Freaky boy (H&M), Freaky Girl (MFM), attracted to a 'older person'.. what was he? 52 in the movie? hehehehe...She (H&M) 80.

There are similarities but not so much that if you saw them both on a double bill you'd think you saw the same movie twice. Both are very good. Now I have the Cat Stevens (he was still Cat Stevens back then) 'Trouble' playing while Harold drove his hearse sports car in Big Sur. Great movie, great music.

Have you ever noticed how many great movies also have great music.? I wonder if it's possible to have a great movie with bad music. hmmm. I've often thought that a lot of TV shows became hits initially because of their theme songs. Ok, different subject. :) But interesting to ponder.
