All I can say is it's a sad copy of An Affair To Remember.

I came here to post exactly what you did. Bollywood has made many copies, gotta love Indian "originality".

Almost every Indian hits are copy of a hollywood movie..that's pathetic... I mean... that's just how behind Indian Cinema is... well.. and it seems it will remain so... An affair to remember (1957) remake in 1999 (Mann)... 50 in calculation.. 100s in reality... Indian Movies are just too behind... Don't they have any good plot of their own????
I only wonder....

Actually, An Affair to Remember was a remake of an earlier film called Love Affair. Later on, Warren Beatty made a remake of both films called Love Affair (1999), and Rob Reiner heavily referenced Affair to Remember in Sleepless in Seattle.

So??? What does that prove....considering we already knew this...

It proves you a stupid heifer, because you're complaining about a movie that was itself a "copy" as you so idiomatically call it.

Once again. That makes no difference. The point I made was that it wasn't a well made copy, rather than the fact that it's just a copy. I have seen a lot of good remakes made in Hindi (acknowledging the original or not - i'll keep that as a separate issue). And some i've even enjoyed more than the original.
I personally dont really care if films are copies. I like to call them creative cultural adaptations. But they have to be made well, plain and simple. Although I did like the music of this film - some songs were really great.

I seem to infer that you're an Aamir fan. I ain't gonna mess with you.

I agree with MrsFarhanAkhtar in that "Mann" was a very bad remake of a classic Hollywood movie. I don't condone Hindi filmmakers who rip-off Hollywood movies and pass it off as "original". Some filmmakers (e.g Mahesh & Mukesh Bhatt) are notorious for copying even the dialogues and exact scenes/ camera angles of Hollywood movies. I wouldn't call such rip-offs "creative cultural adaptations".

However, I see nothing wrong with drawing inspiration from a Hollywood movie to create a completely different and original Hindi movie. Sadly, there are very VERY few such movies in the Indian film industry.

Fun fact: An Affair to Remember (1957) Is not only a remake of Love Affair (1939), it was also remade by the same director, Leo McCarey.
