Potter's first true failure

I became a huge Sally Potter fan after seeing Orlando, one of the most visually stunning and enchanting movies I've ever seen. But its never been the same since. The nicely shot "Tango Lesson" ran bit too long and lacked any real drama, and I had to turn off "The Man Who Cried" out of sheer boredom. I see her movies mainly for her signature art photogrpahy. I got none of that here. Plus, the characters, story and dialogue were non existant, and it seems that a large movie budget is about the worst thing that can happen to Sally Potter.

I love filmakers with a great visual sense, like Stanley Kubrick and Sally Potter etc. Can anyone recommend any other directors who make movies in this vein?
