Beethoven's 3rd In The Mid-90's

With the support of IMDB, I finally found out why a third Beethoven film was shelved until 1999-2000.

The film was going to have the original Newton family return, but this was axed because Charles Grodin retired from acting for years (and he kept doing it until 2017, only to pass away in 2021). This led to a possible plot concerning Alice being a single mom (either divorced or widowed), something Bonnie Hunt rejected. I maintain in these posts that Bonnie Hunt and Nicholle Tom are still in the game. Castile gave up acting at 18 to go pursue a teaching/masters degree, while Karr gave up acting at 10 to go live a life in silence. This axed version of Beethoven's 3rd would've come out in 1995-1996, but Universal shelved it in favor of other projects.

But I'm sure y'all know that without the original Newton family, the film just isn't the same (yes, I do feel bad for Judge Rheinhold and Julia Sweeney because while they are good actors, they were miscast for their roles).
