Well, the original dog should be dead by now. Big dogs normally die somewhere around the age of 10.

The dog would be 14 or older if he was still alive. That's like 7x14=98 years old.

I wouldn't doubt it. However, there is no one dog though. I was an extra in this movie for a couple days at the Sumo-Ranch town and there were 3 dogs that played Beethoven.

I personally met Charles Grodin at an event for Best Buddies International. He said they asked him to appear in the movie but he couldn't do to some kind of issue with money.

I am sure the original Beethoven has passed on. When you think the first two movies were made in the very early 1990's. The first film came out 1992 April so that's 16 years ago. Generally Big dogs do not live that long a St Bernard life expectancy is 8 to 10 years. Not to say one could not live past 10. Even the puppies from movie 2 are probably deceased.

I read somewhere that the original main dog died not long after the completion of the second movie.

Let Zygons Be Zygons.
