How does Patrick buy things if he's unemployed?!?

After watching the episode SpongeBob, You're Fired, we learned (well, we knew from Day 1 from the 1st season so it's no surprise) that Patrick is unemployed and he likes it. Though, in previous episodes, he's been employed by the Chum Bucket twice (In the Fry Cook Games for 5 minutes and Chum Bucket Supreme for coming up with the "Chum is Fum" slogan).

However, in previous seasons, specials, and the SpongeBob movie, we see Patrick buy food like Ice Cream, Krabby Patties, popcorn, donuts, etc;....but how does he even buy all that? More so, how does he pay his cable bill and mortgage for his rock?

Anyone know how?

reply

I'm going to assume that Patrick's seeming idiocy is actually a clever facade to evade working. Fooling the government, he is granted disability payment and gets an undisclosed amount of funds to afford everyday necessities.

...It's just a cartoon, dude.

Patrick is actually super smart. Remember when he asked Spongebob how they could start fires underwater? Sometimes his genius IQ cracks through the surface. Either way he must be living on some sort of government assistance or welfare

Spoilers!Spoilers!Spoilers!Spoilers!

Correction, he USED to be smart. If you've watched the newer ones (e.g. "Pet Sitter Pat") you'd see that he's now the kind of character that Homer Simpson at his dumbest would look at and say:

"Wow, that guy's a moron!"

Favourite movie of all time: "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"

reply

He's on welfare, duh.

reply

He is like Kramer from Seinfeld.

Can I refill your eggnog, get u something to eat, drive u out 2 the middle of nowhere leave u 4 dead?

reply

Yeah he's the Cosmo Kramer of Bikini Bottom. The inner mechanisms of his mind are an enigma...

Maybe Patrick cuts off an arm and donates it to science?

reply

He's not just a fry cook. He's the only cook of his restaurant and his restaurant is the most successful in town.

Government Assistance? Are you people effing serious? Pay attention now: It. Is. A. CARTOON. A children's cartoon. You have to suspend belief. How is there a beach under the sea? How does a crab have a whale for a daughter? How does a computerized "wife" operate in salt water? It's a *beep* cartoon. That's the answer. To all of it. It's a cartoon.

Wow, seriously?

reply

Sshhh... It's okay. Calm down. Just people having fun speculating, okay. Have a cookie

Only when the plot demands it.
