How did they do the flashbacks in this episode?

I was just watching the episode A Weak First Week, which is the last episode in Season 1, and it shows flashbacks to what was supposedly Ren and Louis's first week together in Jr High... except they were OBVIOUSLY younger in the flashbacks, especially Louis. He not only looked younger, but his voice was higher and softer than it was by later in Season 1. So...? Did they know in advance they planned to do this, and shot these scenes before they shot the rest of the season? If so, cool... but just unreal. Unheard of. Or else was this just an episode they never used, and figured out a creative way to use it? If so, still, cool.

Those were clips from the pilot episode.

I dont think they ever aired it because theyre last name was Spivey in the pilot before they changed it to Stevens.

Yep. If you watch closely, you will see the characters' mouths say "Spivey," while the voices (dubbed over) say "Stevens."
