I'm going to list some things I remember and I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me if this is the movie I'm thinking of:

1. A woman gets pregnant with a man's child and then she gets thrown against a wall, causing her child to be mentally retarded.

2. Later on in the movie, they are watching the Beatles on TV and her son laughs at their hair cuts.

3. The woman writes a song called "Wall Around My Heart" for a girl group called the Emeralds, inspired by a ring the father of her child gave her.

4. At the end of the movie, the main guy and girl slow dance to a song they slow danced to at the very beginning of the movie.

Any help would be appreciated. And if this is the movie I'm thinking of, can anybody tell me what song the couple dances to?

This is definately the movie you were thinking of. They were dancing to "Only You" by The Platters (i'm assuming). But just so you know, when Lynne hit the wall, she had a miscarriage. You may have missed the part with all the blood. The retarded kid is her brother, it shows him at the beginning of the movie too.
