If there were a Metroid movie...

Who should play Samus?

I have some thoughts:

Rosario Dawson(Who says Samus has to be white?)

Jeez, thought I'd have more than that. Well, that's my one idea.

I would say either Linda Hamilton or Sigorney Weaver but both are probably too old for the role now.

Well, Samus is supposed to be a seasoned veteran.

If you put it that way, i'd say Hamilton is the best choice. She hasn't really been in anything decent for years. It would be nice to see her explode in cinemas as Samus, she's very good in her tough heroine roles and i think she'll pull it off nicely.

Maybe Uma Thurman?

God no. Can't stand her and she would not make a good Samus. Ideally, if a Metroid movie were made I'd like to see virtually nothing of the actress (aside from her voice) until the end of the movie. I've always liked the idea of keeping her in uniform until the end of the story. If that method were followed, it would all come down to who could voice the character well, and move the way Samus would.

So think of a relatively young actress (30-40 I'd say) that is very athletic (perhaps with a background in dance or martial arts), physically attractive (although that is the least important component) and has a distinct voice that would match the character. Quite frankly, I'm stumped. I can't think of anyone that would be "perfect" for such a role.

I've always thought that Peri Gilpin would be great for the voice of Samus. Also, I think the previous poster's idea of Rosario Dawson has a lot of merit. Regardless though, with the track record of VG to Film transitions, the movie would probably suck anyway. Most likely a Paul Anderson/Uwe Boll/John Woo debacle that would have nothing in common with the games.

Okay, now you're just reaching. I'm thinking Zoe Bell.

Yes, she's very tough. I just think Zoe Bell would be much better, especially what with actually being a stuntwoman.

Two words:
ANGELINA JOLIE.

EVERYBODY says her.

Naomi Watts or possibly Scarlett Johansson.

Me.
Or failing that, Sigourney Weaver, I always thought that - if they had done it ten years ago. Ah hell I still think it now!
I know you can battle the nasties, dear.

I'd prefer an unknown actress

If they're basing it on Other M, maybe.
