One of the Worst

This flick is really just a quick diversion (or actually a very lengthy one, since it is quite hard to stand this one for its duration). It does have a cool cast of familiar faces from various TV series, including a young hot fiesty Lauren Ambrose before her HBO "Six Feet Under" days. But a parody of old movie styles that are already hard to take really make this one a pain to watch. [D+]

I thought this movie was hilarious. Charles Busch(sp?) is a genious.

Absolutely. I'm watching it right now and it's a perfect pop art object with an incredible amount going on--genre mashing, cross dressing, surf, gay coming out, split personalities among others--all in superb balance and with a script with razor sharp wit and comic timing. In reality, this to my mind is one of the best movies of recent years, period, and as others have observed, you do not need to know any of the originals to enjoy it.

Scree, are you just unhappy, or do you lack a sense of humor, or do you just not have a taste for good comedy??????

buzzerbill: what you said. watched this again at 3am last night... it really is a pitch-perfect film, but you're either going to SEE THAT or you aren't. A lot of my favorite films are polarizing. You either get it or you don't. This is for the "fizzy" people like us :)

I adore this film. It's so campy it's bound to have at least a small cult following.

I think just because it copies old movie styles that you aren't crazy about, doesn't mean it does the same thing those movies did. It is it's own unique, and very entertaining and funny mix of elements and influences. You had a problem sitting through it, but most people enjoyed it.

If you have absolutely no affection for the originals, of course you won't like the parody.

I loved this movie.

I never saw the origional and I adored the movie. The cast is awesome, the script hilarious and the only true cliche that I know (The surf scenes) are so funny because they are so fake. I love this film.

Actually, I wasn't around for the originals and I find what little I've seen horrendous. But that's part of why I laughed so hard at the parodies. They took something campy and painful and turned it into charming entertainment with the sort of crazy, screwball sense of humor I love.

Well, I was born around the time that a lot of these movies were in their decline, and I caught plenty of them on TV when I was a kid. So I'm a lot more familiar with them. And it's partially because of this, that I enjoyed it so much.

Are you serial? There are films of poorer quality than this! This is A+ shizz compared to alot of Z-grade horrors and spoofs. How dare you insult this movie! You're insulting the film community.

Just because there's worse stuff, doesn't make this good! (I'm not saying its a bad film, I'm just pointing out your flawed logic)

Thank you for your opinion.

Please allow me to disagree with it.

I'm old enough to remember the first flock of beach party movies following the success of "Gidget".

I thought this one was a good satire/pastiche on that genre and the psycho-serial-killer movies of that same period.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
