Please... DO read all possible spoilers

Due to an odd marketing choice, this film attracts some viewers which are absolutely NOT the target audience.

This is one of these rare films where reading reviews and posts and spoilers will help decide if this is material not for you. This is not a film about cannibals, it's a film about a man, and his explorations at both the centre of civilisation (which New York pretty much exemplifies in this past half century and at the periphery of civilisation. Or, as Tobias puts it, maybe it's the other way around... maybe the 'primitive' life is more at the centre and modern civilisation is the one that bears no fundamental truth for humans.

My heart was beating so profoundly throughout the film. The depth of emotion that is conveyed by this man's passage through various forms of living is simply mesmerising. And I'm not one who's easily moved deep inside.

-Some viewers found him annoying, I didn't.
-Some viewers found the book images annoying, I didn't
-Some people thought the film was all about gay sexuality, IT ISN'T, 15 mins in all.
-The Jewish wedding scenes last all of 5 minutes, it's a glimpse into his civilised world, and is necessary to establish contrast.
-Some viewers denounced his moral relativism, IMO, it's the only wise way to behave.

I'd like to see any of the complainers I've read here take this trip down a dually painful and happy trip down memory lane in the 'uncivilised' world at age 78.

I think he's pretty grand.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

Why it even mentions cannibalism in the title is beyond me! It took maybe a total of 3-5 minutes in discussions and another few to explain how the raid happened. This is a moving and informative documentary not a flesh feast it makes itself out to be. I don't recall the tag line being there when I watched it years ago.
