Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that thinks this movie is horrible? I don't know about the snowboarding to much but the Hawaii part is appalling. I'm from Hawaii and I cringe when i see this movie. This movie just reinforces stereotypes about hawaiians and asians. The only cool part was the grandpa but that's only because he is a local guy. He did have some very cheezy dialogue though.

ya bad movie..but what could you expect from disney...haha..though i must say i enjoyed hte soundtrack (=

Ugh. I agree with you. I think this is the one of the worst disney channel movies.

Sorry fans. =[ Only trying to state my opinion, nothing against you.

No you're not the only one who thought it was horrible. How could they pass off Johnny's dad and grandpa as hawaiian? They're japanese for christ's sake. Get hawaiian actors to play hawaiian roles. It's not that hard. No wait I forget, low budget movie...

i liked it. its affected my life, me and my friends still talk about it today. i guess its just a fun stupid movie not meant to be taken in any seriousness, so you are right in that sense, but no one is never the only one.

i remember when this movie first came out on the disney channel (i was in elementary school i think, maybe middle school) and it was the coolest movie ever invented by man!

i'm gonna go out and rent it and see how much it has changed.

but i thought it was pretty rad at the time

No you are not the only one. I think so too and I'm from Hawaii too. I agree with the other poster, I think they should have had real Hawaii people act in that. It makes me go crazy when I hear how they talk or see how they dress.

Well looking at it on your point of view, I could definatly agree. I come from a Mexican family and it drives me crazy when movies stereotype Mexicans with this huge sombreros, dark skin, and living in a trashy neighbor hood. Or the same with African American people, which I have lots of friends, that honestly get bit angry at the fact hat they still stereotype blacks and everyone else. But that’s movies for you.

Anyways, looking at it on a different point of view, like when I was 11 or 12 well I gotta say this movie was great. I guess Disney makes these type of movies for kids and pre-teens entertainment only. I remember how much fun I use to have while watching this movie back when I was a pre-teen. I just saw it today as an adult and I have to agree that I saw it with different eyes. Not as fun or good as it use to be, but overall, it’s was still a nice way to bring me back to my pre-teen memories of how fun it was back then.

But yeah I guess I’m starting to realize the whole age group of films. I would still watch this movie if it comes out later on, however, it’s never going to be as fun as it was back when I was a kid.
