i think it was a beautiful ending to a good movie (plus i've loved the song ever since i heard doris day sing it)

I didn't knew it was an original song till after I saw the movie.

Takahata uses music well - Only Yesterday (Omohide Poro Poro) has GREAT music selections all the way through, and the ending of that film is even more moving.

I'm completely in agreement. I found myself humping along to Que Sera Sera as the characters sang :)
