As others have said, this documentary covers far too many films to list them all. It starts with a lot of clips rarely seen of the silent era, including views of the MGM lot and archive publicity shots of its silent stars. Overall, it profiles the MGM films that stand out in terms of their artistic merit and how well recieved they were at the time (Oscar winners espeicially). Interviews with actors, directors, producers and editors of all these films gives the six hour long documentary an intimate quality. There are also a number of segments dedicated to specific film stars whose careers began at MGM; Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Judy Garland, Spencer Tracey etc etc.
This is an amazing documentary that offers a rare insight into the history of one of the most important studios in film history. The amount of clips is really unprecidented, and coupled with the interviews and narrative, one is reminded of the sense of waste when the studio gradually fell into decline. The information is well presented with a number of veteran actors providing amusing insights into the films and stars of their day.
A 'spine-chillig' must for any movie fan!
