Re: Too American now

The only thing that bothers me about 'Thomas The Tank Engine' in general, is when it became much less British & much more American. Suddenly it was 'Thomas The Train', & instead of being narrated by Ringo Starr, it was George Carlin. I live in Ontario, Canada, & was collecting the TV shows on tape for awhile there, making sure it was Ringo Starr each time. However, they were being slowly replaced & reissued with George Carlin. Haven't checked lately, maybe even Carlin has been replaced by now.

Now it's Alec Baldwin.

Being a Canadian, I was mostly raised on the American version with George Carlin. To be fair, the earlier "Americanized" episodes were not that bad, though I do prefer the British versions. What I really hate is the fact that Thomas the Tank Engine, along with some of my other childhood favorite shows such as Noddy, has been completly Americanized and destroyed.

It is still possible to find episodes of the original British version of Thomas the Tank Engine on YouTube. In fact, I know a person there who has a whole channel dedicated to the British episodes of the show, which can be found at this link:

If John Wayne and Chuck Norris got into a fight, John Wayne would probably win.
