What duels did you like the best?

My favorite duel was the first duel Utena had with Juri. I thought it was one of the better-animated duels. I also liked how intense it was. I thought it was great how Juri was able to withstand Utena’s finishing move and disarm her, only to be defeated by a miracle.

I also liked the second duel with Juri, the first two duels with Touga, the last duel with Akio, and to a lesser extent, the first duel with Nanami.

Overall, I felt the first story arc had the best duels. They seemed to fight longer. The black rose duels typically didn't last long enough, and the Akio story arc had weird cars that I found distracting.

As for the black rose duels, I wish they'd have lasted longer, but I really like Kanae's one (she's my favourite Utena character hehehe), and Wakaba's, because even if it didnt have much of a fight, it was quite emotional (and the music of that duel was superb).

I totally agree with everyone about Utena and Juri's first duel, and Utena and Akio's duel at the end of the series.

Utena and Touga's 2nd duel was also great. And I think possibly my favorite (although it's been a long time since I've watched this series through...) is the last duel Utena had with Saionji, with Touga assisting.

I would have to go with ALL of Juri's fights, and my all time favorite would be Wakaba's. I actually teared up when I watched it for the first time.

Oh the Revolution duel too, of course.

Nanami's first, Juri's first, Touga's second (after she lost the first time), Wakaba's, Mikage's, and Saionji's last duel.

On a related note, I like that Juri never got defeated in a conventional way. The first time she lost was because of luck (a miracle) and the second time she tore off her own rose.

I like Touga's 3rd and final duel. The scene where Utena cuts all those cars in half is amazing. Plus, the duel theme is epic.
