The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship = Baron Munchausen

Hey everyone! Does anyone noticed that Baron Munchausen and The Fool and the Flying Ship are very similar to each other? Here are a couple of examples:

Baron Munchausen

1) Lead character (The Baron)
2) Companions with unique abilities(Berthold, Adolphus, Albrecht, and Gustavus)
3) The Princess (Venus, in a way)
4) The King (The Sultan of the Turks)

The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship

1) Lead character (The Fool)
2) Companions with unique abilities (the runner, the eater, the sharpshooter, the hearer, the forrester and the straw carrier)
3) The Princess (The Tsar's daughter)
4) The King (The Tsar of Russia)

Tell me what do you think of this comparision!

I see the comparisons, and there's another story that's very similar to Baron Munchausen. The book is called How Six Men Got On in the World by the Brothers Grimm.

In the cartoon version it's called The Six Who Went Far.

Oh yeah! I remembered reading that story! Pretty impressive!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that a lot of the real-life Baron's tall tales were "inspired" by folk tales he heard while an officer in Russia. So, not surprised that you found the story behind this similar to the Baron's.

It'll be like Luke Duke and the other guy.
Really?
Yeah.
NO!

Oh, I didn't know that part, although the Catherine the Great reference was a bit of a giveaway.
