Yes.

Yes, of course, the whole group in Terminal City and under siege isn't a cliffhanger. And all those lose ends that never got tied up (like for example, Max and Logan and that virus).

Some of the scripts for season 3 were done already, they were later used for two additional books to conclude the story.

Are they supposed to be canon or just fan creations like the Forever series of online comics?

Canon. There's so little Dark Angel universe stuff out there anyways, so it probably doesn't matter. One day I'll get down to reading them, lol.
