Worst Movie Ever

i just saw this movie in history class today.
and its basically the most unbelievable movie ever.
i just laughed the whole time.
animals taking over a farm, pigs becoming alcoholics and learning how to read and write.
isn’t it all a little far fetched?
i mean i understand the symbolism and all but come onnnn!

Mmm... I just think that if you understand what the movie is trying to say, that's all you need to know. It's about the Russian Revolution (I guess you know that as you were watching it in History?) and about how power can be abused with hypocrasy, etc.

You're walking down the road. The road caves in. It's not so funny now, is it.

reply

Hahah what a coincidence. I just watched it yesterday in MY history class. And yea I thought it sucked.

Did you not like the idea of the story?

reply

yeah i understand all that i just dont understand why they thought people would actually take it seriously when animals are talking

Most people can view controversial films better when the human aspect is taken out. Great books such as Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus is a great example. The author tells the story from a Martian and Venitian point of view (which you have to admit some of the scenarios are humerous and farfetched) then he puts the human element back in a simular example to drive it home.

reply

Well, it's hard to think of today, but in 1917, the way you think of animals was thought of of the working class. And you think it's ridiculous trading with animals? They thought the same thing when the west started trading with the Soviet Union.

Confidence is a preference of the habitual voyeur of what is known as......Parklife

reply

It's called satire my friend.

reply

the animals talk in the book do they not? The story is made to be fiction but it is alluding the Russian Revolution. At the end of the movie, the dog can't tell the difference between the pig and the human. It's showing how the russian leaders became exactly like the other world leaders. They completly changed there government values to benefit themseles. I guess this is an example of Capitalism

reply

I saw it in my history class, and like everyone else, told the teacher that I hated it.

But unlike them, I understood it. It's basically the story of the downfall of Russian communists, only told with animals on a farm.

Clever idea.

reply

It's an extremely sped up and dumbed down version of the book.

Every body on this thread seems to be missing the point of why a farm of animals was actually used. It's an allegory meaning the writer wrote it in symbolic form to avoid direct accusation as to it's content. Even though people worked out what it was about he was able to be void of all responsibility to it's powerful message. If he had used humans his ruse would not have worked. But I understand what people are saying, the idea of real animals actually talking does comicaly detract from the message. If you want to appreciate this story visually I suggest you view it in it's original animated version.

ehm
this is a movie based on a book written in 1945
its not only the dictation it describes, its much more
the book is genious, and its a long time since i saw this movie, but i still remember it being very much alike the book, and tbh the book has some major, good points. the pigs represents the upper league, the presidents and his men around, it represents stalin and his fight, and it represents the whole story of the russian revolution, the USSR and more. We just read this story in the english class, and we analyzed it. If you just think its a book/film about animals talking, then u have totally misunderstood mr.Orwells point in the story.
Well tomorrow im gonna watch this movie, to see if its any good. But if its anything like i remembered, then i think its a good/ok movie....

reply

it is made for damn kids! How can you turn a book that excellent and deep into a freakin' kid movie?!?! Most parts of the movie have nothing to do with the book i think. Sad part is, my english teacher had us watch this for TWO DAYS!!! Would have rather played my game boy at that time.

reply

Not sure why you would tell your teacher you hate a movie. When I was in school, we would gladly watch a movie rather than doing work - it didn't matter if the movie was Ishtar...it was still better than school work in most cases. Apparently, schools and teachers have gotten lazier in teaching kids though and kids are spoiled and want to watch premium entertainment television and movies these days when they're in school.

reply

it's not showing the russion leader became exactly like other world leaders, it showed that the soviets became akin to the regime they disposed of (czars)..

reply

it's an example of communism you idiot

reply

animalism is an allegory to comunism. but at the end the ruling pigs end up actting like humans=capitalism

reply

Anyone who thinks the books is soley against totalitarianism and marxism or capitalism seriously underestimates orwell...

reply

ya i agree the movie sucked REALLY bad. the book is one of the best ive ever read, and the story is great, but the way they made the animals and the way they completly changed the story really ruined ot for me. I think theres great potntial for a movie in tht book, but this one just didnt cut it.

reply

All i can say is, where is the cat?

reply

I understood it completely.......that doesn't make the MOVIE good...I thought most of the voice actors were doing a terrible job...and it was sped up too quickly at the end...as a story and everything it's good, but the movie is apalling...

it would be a good movie, had it been made so you didn't have to read the book to understand what was going on....because some parts were just ridiculous.

reply

We read the book and watched the movie in my English class. I hated it. The movie was worse than the book.

reply

yep... worst movie ive ever seen and worst book ive ever read.

Although I have not seen the movie, I happen to think the book is an excellent allegory to the Russian Revolution and the rise of Communism. I think that animals and goofy situations (pigs drinking and extorting fellow animals) was to make the whole rise of Communism look like a joke. Orwell makes one of the heaviest events of all time into a humorous story.

If the rain comes, they run and hide their heads.

reply

Orwell meant you to think of every character in the book as their human equivalent of the allegory anyway. The reason is that without the human element people would think without political bias and what is right and wrong is easier distinguishable than talking straight political theory.

Things like mass killing in front of an audience doesnt sound goofy to me at all even if the characters are replaced by animals and noone in their right mind would use it to make anything like a joke.

What?? I can't believe there are people who didn't like the movie or at least idea. The ones who don't, must be the world's most closed-minded human beings. If I were you, I'd rather be quiet and not comment things I simply don't understand.
I mean, how low can you go??
