One of the most sad and poignant endings

I have to say out of all the period pieces I have seen this film is one of the better ones. The ending for me is one of the most sad and poignant endings I have ever watched. I think it is the music and the moment Heathcliffe sees Cathy again and he gets to hold her; the look on his face when he turns to run after her. Very touching! Especially when the servant woman closes Heathcliffs eyes after he has passed on, that precise moment the music swells I just fall apart every time. Very well done.

Very catching ending and by uniting the two loving souls in a reminiscising of their exchanges in the cave, the tapping of the window (a soul released) instead the tapping of branches on the window in a storm ( a soul trying to get in) in the beginning of the film. But what is the name of the famous painting of the dying youth or poet that Heathcliff posed as in his dying dream of reuniting with his soulmate?

It reminds me of Henry Wallis' portrait of Chatterton: http://www.bestpriceart.com/vault/wallis1.jpg

Anyway, I agree -- it's a brilliant, amazingly effective ending. The music, the cinematography, the acting, everything is wonderful.

I love the ending, i can't stop replaying the last sequence over and over again.

The music and the look on Hareton's (Matthew Mcfayden)face really gets to me.
