A deliberately eye-catching title...

Whether it's in French or English, the term "pornographic" refers to images, photos, films, etc. i.e. artistic forms exploiting sexuality in a crude (i.e. with little or no place for imagination, unlike with erotic art) and complacent manner (or for commercial purposes) to titillate its spectators. It thus applies to the representation of sexuality, not to sexuality itself. In brief, there's no such thing as a "pornographic liaison", not even in French (my mother tongue, BTW).

It's quite obvious to me that the title is misleading and was chosen as an eye-grabber (or something else-grabber....), instead of at least a dozen of more appropriate adjectives (semantically speaking) such as carnal, sensuous, physical, lascivious, etc.

As for the film itself, I liked the actors' interplay, especially Sergi Lopez as the "tender macho teddy bear" that he is... However, it is a rather thin story and the film failed to leave a durable impression on me. I tend to think that with a less catchy title, the movie would have enjoyed an even less successful career.

P.S.: As an afterthought, I realize that the "pornographic" adjective does not appear in the English title, which is even more bizarre. "An Affair of Love"? Not only is this a misrepresentation of the subject, but it almost gives a spoiler if taken literally (and I won't elaborate for obvious reasons).

A rare achievement: to ruin both the original title of a movie and the English version of the title, and for different reasons in each case! That's a tough one to beat!
