Who do you like playing as? For some reason I was really good with Luigi for the Mario All Stars version, but I can barely control him in the Wii virtual console version. I mostly play as Mario now.

I played mostly as Luigi. Due to him being able to jump higher, it makes the game easier to play (though it's still incredibly difficult to the point of annoyance).

My friends' favorite was Luigi, but he had Restless Leg Syndrome (before it was a thing), and that kind of messed me up. I used Luigi during the fist level because it was easy. I used Toad during the fist desert level because he's the fastest digger. I used Mario for the second desert level because he's the second fastest digger and second highest jumper (there's a jump in the level that only Toad cannot make). The rest of the time I used Princess Toadstool (it was changed to Peach much later) because she could float.
