I'm at 24-26 stars, and I can't get to 30 (and open up new worlds) without using a flying cap. But I can't find where to activate the blocks. I've activated the metal-cap blocks, and the invisibility-cap blocks, but I just can't find how to turn on the flying-cap blocks. What am I missing? Please help.
Oh, if it makes a difference, I'm playing the Wii Virtual Console version.

Not sure if it makes a difference which version it is but I am currently replaying the game myself on the Nintendo 64 and when I get stumped I google what I am looking for in the game. Easy way to find things out.
shareTo activate the red caps, you need to go to the carpet in the middle of the inside entrance to the castle. There should be a light shining down on the carpet from the ceiling. Stand on the carpet and use the controls to make mario look up into the light and you will be transported to a flying level where you will fly down and jump on a large red button switch that will henceforth activate all of the red cap blocks in all of the levels.
This is how you do it on N64, and I am assuming it is the same for the Wii. It could be that the Wii doesn't have the light shining down or something- either way just go on the rug and look up (there will be clouds on the ceiling).
