How similiar is this to 'Blue Velvet'?

I just rented some flicks a few days ago, and "Firecracker" and "Blue Velvet" were among them.
I watched "Firecracker" with my girlfriend the other day and we both hated it. I thought it was all style and NO substance. People say "this movie's not a tragedy." I say it is. I think its a tragedy that my favorite singer involved himself in this. If I didn't love Mike Patton so much I would have turned it off half an hour in.

Anyways, if you liked this film, thats fine. Maybe you saw something in it that I didn't. But I'm not hear to debate on whether its good or not. All I wanna know is...since I didn't like Firecracker, does that mean I won't like Blue Velvet either? Let me know.

Hey Mate,

Totally agree with everything you said on Firecracker.
Blue Velvet is great, you should still check it out, but on the flip side to that, you either like David Lynch's work or you dont, so i would recomend watching it, but dont be suprised if you don't like it either, depending on how much David Lynch stuff your familiar with.

The only thing that is similar between the 2 are they are both movies and someone dies in them both.

Let me know what u think of Velvet.

Blue Velvet is WAY better than this movie. For one thing it was made by a professional filmmaker - David Lynch, a great director. Mike Patton is also a fan of his work. Most of his movies have a darkly beautiful, surreal quality to them. The two movies do have some similarities, more than just someone dying - but it's a bit of a stretch to really compare them (not just in terms of quality either where there is a vast difference). But, you've probably already decided by now.

You think? LOL. You come off sounding pretty jealous to me. I mean, really... Is the hyper-self-obsessed Matthew Barney really talking about Steve Balderson at his art openings? Really? LOL. If he is, more power to Balderson.

You think? LOL. Mike Patton is the only one who has Bjork's cell phone number? For real? Her babysitters don't, her manager doesn't - or her assistant? LOL. Balderson had to steal it from Mike? LOL. How would he have gotten ahold of the phone? LOL. Why go to all the trouble when anyone can just emailed her assistant or agent? LOL.

And, really... Are David Lynch's children so threatened by Steve Balderson that they'd obsess over him like you are?

LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Hey so I finally saw "Blue Velvet" a few weeks ago. You guys were right, it was a fantastic movie! And I even recognized some of the lines from a Mr. Bungle (a Mike Patton band) song. "One thing I can't *beep* stand is warm beer makes me *beep* puke!"
Blue Velvet was not at all like Firecracker. Blue Velvet had an actual plot, suspense, dark humor, romance, everything you could want from a good movie. I probably didn't catch all the little metaphors and stuff but I enjoyed it for what it was on the surface.
