only 5.3 stars?!

i lived in california when i viewed this movie almost four years ago on DVD. i sat here tonight on the opposite coast nearly going bonkers trying to recall this film's title so that i can view it again. i even phoned my old video store only to learn that my rental history had been cleared. one home viewing with four other vids that week, countless movies in between and this movie is still hanging out in my brain!!! i'll need that second viewing before i can leave a solid rating above but i'm sure it will be well over 5 stars. talk about your sleeper films! i recall it being lynch-cockian... bleak but (perhaps due to its use of color) not completely hopeless. netflix!
