I dont know what everyones prob. is

Ok for some reason there seem to be alot of people who hate this movie. Or just dont like it. Or just think its okay.
I drove all the way to San Francisco, (about a 2ish hour drive) just to see this film in the theater. There was a huge group of people. We got there really early and bought the tickets hours early. Then when all of us sat down in that theater, all waiting to see a long piece of art, I had an overwhelming feeling come over me that I couldnt describe. I absolutely loved this film. I was excited about it for months until it was released on Dvd which I preordered. I spent hours on the Dikenga Firecracker website trying to find out everything I could about the movie, the director, what actually happened 55 years ago in Wamego, KS. And learned a few new things. I think Steve Balderson is a brilliant man. He did a wonderful job. The film made me feel for the characters, it entertained me, it gave me a thirst for knowledge. It did so many things to me so I know that it wasnt just a stupid shallow film that you can sit and watch and be told what to think.
Since I first saw this film I have thought about it nearly everyday, even if just for a short moment.
I do agree however there were times in the film when the acting was bad. Like that crazy girl. I hated her character altogether, but one of her lines was my fave in the movie. "The dirt doesnt sound like this anywhere else" that was pretty funny. But anyway. Im done now. And believe me. I dont expect to get many positive replies to this message, and im prepared to ignore you trolls out there.

Um, Thank you drive through....

So I guess you're a troll for posting positive things about this? Wake up, people arent going to like this film, and people are going to enjoy this film. Someone who hated this movie has every right to post their opinions here.

Because most of the people posting bad things are enemies of Balderson's and know him personally, so they want to see him suffer and fail. Like they get off on putting other people down to feel better about themselves. It's all really immature and ironic since this behavior is exactly what the film is about. You're right, there's no reason for every person who hated this movie to post a totally separate thread. Hey, have you seen that awesome interview he did with the guy who hated his movie? It's on the thread called "The Lynching of Steve Balderson." It rocks.

Get over yourself.

I actually enjoyed this film also, I didn't find it too bad. Maybe it wasn't the best movie of the year, lord knows, I've seen worse, but it held my attention, and I found it abit odd at times, but yet, interesting at the same time.

people post negative things bout this film cuz its the worst movie ever. sometimes whilst walking down the street i ponder how the hell this movie was made and what type of bizarro world logic any single human being must posesse in order to like it. its absolute *beep*

I guess it was interesting to me because something weird like this was actually true, it actually happened, and I love the carnival background to the story, just a weird thing that happened, if the director had worked on the characters more though then the "art" of this movie, I think it could have actually really been good. I liked it anyway, was interesting.

Hell, I only bought it because Mike was in it... LOL

But, I actually was intrigued with this storyline, especially it being so weird and true..

Be prepared, Mike rapes Jimmy in this movie, (you really don't see much of Mike, just Jimmy screaming, and Mike pulling Jimmy's pants down and getting on top of him), but I kind of sat there with my mouth opened at that part LOL!!!!

HA! it's worth the watch, was good seeing him playing a dual role (the director wanted David/Frank and Sandra/Eleanor to be played by the same actors, since they kind of parallel each other...the younger man/older woman, abusive men types...

The only place though that I seen who even had this DVD to rent though, was Blockbuster.

I had to ask the clerk if she had it, gave her the name and who was in it, she looked on the computer to see if they had it, and she went right to where the new releases were (it was just released a few months ago to DVD).. just ask the clerk or call them to see if they have it, I was surprised they did, I couldn't find it either at first, I had to ask!

It's always funny, until someone gets hurt, and then it's just hilarious!

LOL!!! I thought the same... Mike is someone who took my breath away everytime he was shown on that screen! LOL!

I thought Mike was alot better then the guy who played Jimmy...Karen was good, but the story was too weird to be true, which made it so interesting for me! LOL!

Yes, Stephen Balderson is a new young director, I think he's only 30, and I agree, some of the scenes were so questionable. He is still learning, and is just gaining experience.. but they even have the articles and such of the murder on their site at Dikenga.com, and you can check out some really good pics of Mike there and the cast!

And also at the top in the blue letters and numbers, says "Actual Events", "Sessions" will show you the articles on the murder there. Just click on the numbers.

So, you still think about the movie after you've seen it? Job done. You may hate the film, but you still think about it. You will never forget it, and when you see images in the "real world" mentally, you will relate them back to this film... Both good and bad.

I on the other hand thoroughly enjoyed Firecracker. It was visually stunning to look at, the characters were well developed, the story engaging. I'm still deciding how this film has effected me, but it will stay with me forever... just like it will for you.
