The Tagline used on the DVD cover is as follows...

"Uncompromising, Truly Chilling..A far more powerful and realistic work than The Shawshank Redemption" 4 Stars - Uncut

I'm not here to slag the film off, but i didn't really think it was that good, and nowhere near the Shawshank Redemption

You have to read into the quality of the reviewer before you read the quality of the review!!

The music on the tapes, that heart & soul that we put onto them, that is ours, & you don't own that

The only reson it has "Shawshank Redemption" on the cover is to sell copies!

No it's nowhere near Shawshank..the best film ever made

I honestly thought this film was better then Shawshank...

Shawshank might have been more realistick at times, and more bleek

but I just liked the characters in Animal Factory a whole lot more

The shawshank thing on the dvd made me buy it today at blockbuster...I doubt it will be better than shawshank redemption though.

shawshank was written by stephen king

Shawshank is a feature film. It is there to entertain. Animal factory is life on the inside. There is no pretention. It's hard boiled reality. There is a truth to its art. If you want to understand what life is like on the inside Animal Factory is the superior film. If you want to be entertained whilst chomping on your popcorn go watch shawshank.

I completely agree with tkidcharlemagne. Animal Factory shows life in Prison.
I used to like Shawshank(still do). But, I have trouble with the way the guards act. In real life guards acting like that would be killed. Almost makes Shawshank unwatchable for me.
