Best performances for both Rourke and Dafoe

Fantastic movie! At first, the theme of the movie in itself seems not that special but towards the end you start realising that this is indeed a very original film.

But the true assets of this movie are the performances of Mickey Rourke and Willem Dafoe. They are stunning! Mickey Rourke as the drag queen is superb! We already knew that Rourke was very versatile (from 9½ Weeks to Barfly) but this time he nothing short of amazed me. But also Willem Dafoe gives a very notable performance. His bald head works splendidly of course, but also I liked the subtlety he brought to the role of Earl Copen.

Thumbs up for the movie, but double thumps up for Rourke's and Dafoe's performances!

I'd say that Edward Furlong's performance was good.

When I first saw I thought "where the hell is Mickey Rourke" and later realised that he was the drag. Excellent Performance!
I often heard about Rourke being this and that but after seeing films like Barfly and Animal Factory I changed my point of view about him. Cool dude!

Check out Mickey Rourkes performance in "SPUN" Rourke is great in this movie that takes you on a 3-day Crystal Meth binge with Rourke as the 'Chef' (the guy who makes the drug) Also one of my favorites - "Bullet" starring Rourke

Agreed! Willem Dafoe and Mickey Rourke are both superb in this movie, and a bit of trivia they are real life friends for more than 30 years, they appeared together in 4 movies: Heaven's Gate,White Sands,Animal Factory and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and Dafoe was in two movies that Mickey was the first choice for the role: "Platoon" & "Mississipi Burning". Also, Dafoe performed alongside Mickey's first wife, actress Debra Feuer in the 1985 William Friedkin' movie "To Live and Die in L.A.". (Rumours is that Mickey was up to William Petersen role, but was busy filming "Nine and a Half Weeks").
