He would probably hook up with his dad, who would smuggle him to Costa Rica.

No way would he hook up with his father. Although it's been a while since I've seen this, but if memory serves, I think the father told him he had money waiting for him at a bank. Once he escapes, the father will be watched like a hawk to see if he shows up.

My guess is, he goes to the bank to get the money and leaves. Or perhaps a not in there saying to got to another bank elsewhere and get more money before he splits for good
